[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1166988] Re: With latest xserver-xorg update, switching to VT does not work anymore

2013-04-10 Thread Julien Aubin
After remembering the history around this bug, this looks much more like a kernel bug than an xorg bug, as I've remarked the first black screen after upgrading to kernel 3.8.0-17. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) = linux (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1166988] [NEW] With latest xserver-xorg update, switching to VT does not work anymore

2013-04-09 Thread Julien Aubin
Public bug reported: DO : start Kubuntu with latest xserver-xorg package updates. DO : switch to VT using Ctrl+Alt+Fx EXPECT : the screen actually switches to VT ACTUAL : black screen with no signal sent to it (it becomes actually in sleeping mode). However it is possible to switch back to X.

auxbuss You should use package nvidia-current, not NVidia-173. I'm not even sure your card is supported by driver nvidia-173... -- ABI change in xorg 1.9 breaks legacy nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 drivers in Maverick https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/626974 You received this bug notification because

2010-04-05 Thread Julien Aubin
This fixes the boot problem. Now I really think that the nvidia-glx packages should be made incompatible as this was the case previously, and the one used for the graphic card sets up its own /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia.conf instead of using update-alternatives. This would demand a bit more bandwidth

2010-04-04 Thread Julien Aubin
I've remarked that the fix randomly screws up my boot process, i.e. quite often the system hangs while booting, and I have to perform SAK system call during boot to get prompted into a root shell and type mountall. Then everything runs fine, but I have a background root shell, which is not
