Probably related to bug #1157464 (I suppose) is the freezing of
shutdown as a part of the upstart package, that does no more neither
switch off the screen nor the computer

Thank You for changing the package; this made the thing work better,
e.g. no more problems closing tabs in firefox, and sometimes even well.
But still the effect appears, obviously depending on the graphical
performance a program or website requires. If it is e.g. possible to
enlarge the website,
