The problem still exists on my system under Lucid too. It seems to be connected to the compiz fusion icon. If I do not load it at start-up my system will freeze after a few mins forcing a hard shutdown. As long as I have the compiz fusion icon running it seems fine. Though this is only in the

There seems to be a fix for this on the Ubuntu Forums, http://swiss.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1307001page=3 post #22. I logged in with effects set to none. Uninstalled the compiz components as per the forum post then reinstalled. Set-up compiz icon and then turned on my preferred effects
