I have been running with a kernel from the kernel-ppa 2.6.30 http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/ and the intel driver 2.7.1 from X updates https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/x-updates and compiz reenabled for three days now without a freeze. I am on amd64. Best Regard
