This bug can be worked around by doing the following: 1. mkdir /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d 2. cp /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ 3. Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf to look like the file reproduced below. This sets up the bottom 25% of the touchpad as
