The problem still occurs. What I have discovered is that when the screen suddenly goes blank, I can get by hitting Alt-Tab. Hence it is now an annoyance but doesn't stop me from working - Alt-Tab and I am back in business. The only time when it has been a problem is when I am shutting down and the computer locks up.
I have had a quick look at the WIKI page you referenced but didn't see my problem there.
