Running Maverick 10.10 I have the same hardware configuration, but normally use a second monitor and so was unaware of this until a few hours ago. I did try the different kernel versions at boot up and found that the problem is not present when I choose 2.6.32-25-generic at the grub boot screen. Trying to boot 2.6.35-22-generic or 2.6.35-23-generic both result in an apparently blank screen until I close the lid and reopen.
