After upgrading to 14.04 the screen resolution is not as I want and
changing with nvidia-settings is not possible, because the program

Nvidia driver
When booting the system or shutting it down, on normal working systems there is
the ubunu splash screen, but on mine the screen gets garbled and there is a
pattern displayed, most times, it is white, but sometimes it has many colors.
