My problems were fixed in Ubuntu 13.04. This may not affect the original
poster though.

compiz and other display misbehavior on HD40
Downgrading these three packages to 9.0 is enough for me to get a working
system:
libgl1-mesa-glx libglapi-mesa libxatracker1
I can upgrade the other packages to 9.0.2 without any apparent problems.

I too had graphics issues after this upgrade. I am using Ubuntu 12.10 in
a VMware Fusion virtual machine on a Mac. After upgrading mesa and
xatracker to 9.0.2-0ubuntu0.1 I no longer get video playback in Totem.
All videos show a black video window. Audio works and the time indicator
progresses as
