Hi Bryce,
The version of XDM has not changed, and the issue has been worked out in
this thread.
I'm pushing back to triage'd. I'll lower the severity, though.

Ah, cool.
Can you SSH in when this happens and do a `top`? See if it uses up 100%
of CPU, if so, I might have this same issue (freeky).
In the meantime, I'm also pushing this on compiz. Thanks!
** Package changed: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) = compiz (Ubuntu)

We have 14 This affects me too marks, and a bunch of comments
confirming this. I'm not ready to call it triaged, though. Can we get
exact steps to reproduce and a bit more work tracking down where the
issue is, exactly?
Marking medium - looks like an uncomon issue, but renders the system
High: It breaks unrelated software.
Thanks for the bug! I just had this reported as an issue from a friend
of mine, confirmed and duplicated.
Thanks for your contribution to Ubuntu!

I doubt the issue is binutils. I'm going to strip that. Someone add it
if it's needed

Upstream seems to be aware --
http://git.exherbo.org/?p=hardware.git;a=commit;h=503c31f463019ccec60e30cbbabaeb5c673a706e
-- but that's not a fix.

Aye! That actually makes sense, but what binutils-gold does is reduce
what's being brought into the link, so let's say with LD (old), if you
include A, it will auto-include B and C. With binutils gold, it
may not -- so you need to state you need B and C as well.
Since binutils is doing it's job
re-targeting to xorg -- it's affecting two different window managers.

If someone from the Ubuntu Xorg team could comment on what is causing
this -- is it low system RAM or Xorg using up more then it should?
