same problem with 2 hp laptops ... hp dm1 with onboard intel graphics an dv6000 with nvidia graphics card ... when the system locks due to inactivity sometimes when i try to get back to the gnome session i only have a black screen with a blinking "cursor" on top ... no ctrl+alt+f# works ... only solution is to power off pressing the power button.
