*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 447181 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/447181
(notice says this is a duplicate but I couldn't see anything linking this to a duplicate bug, hence my post. Apologies if this causes a problem). I had exactly the same problem. I fixed it by: 1 - Uncommenting deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu jaunty main in my sources.list file. 2 - run synaptic, Reload, and then search for the xserver-xorg-video-intel module. Highlight it and then go to the menu item Package/Force version I selected the 2:2.6.3-0ubuntu9.3 (jaunty updates) and then selected 'install' this ran, i rebooted, and everything is back to normal. I think I may have been using the xorg-edgers and x-updates PPAs for compiz (can't remember - longer than a month ago!), but I don't use compiz any more (gone back to metacity with compositing) so can't say if it breaks compiz. -- [i945] No screens found / none have usable configuration on Intel 945GM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/447427 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
