It might be the same bug, but only if your computer does not recognize
your touchpad, in which case it's not a bug in xserver-xorg-input-
synaptics but either in the Linux kernel or in udev. To check how it's
recognized, could you run these commands and post the output:
sudo tpconfig -i
cat
