I also noticed that it breaks the touchpad as soon as I try and open a
Nautilus window via keyboard shortcut. So, not only entering text within
a text field, but using any combined keyboard input seems to cause this
issue to appear.

I tried this again just now using Thunderbird; sure enough, as soon as I
started to type an email address, I lost my touchpad.
So, it seems that every time I input text from the keyboard into any
available application's text field, the touchpad becomes unavailable
until I log out and back in again

** I think this is a regression as my touchpad worked just fine until
recently **
Before logging in, and shortly after logging in, I have a working
touchpad on my MacBook Pro. However, as soon as I start to use Unity's
Dash to launch a program, I lose that touchpad completely
Still have this issue as well.
As a side note, simply hovering over the launcher when coming out of
suspend or hibernation when a window is maximized doesn't always clear
the corruption. I then have to first minimize the window and then touch
the launcher with the mouse cursor and it clears up.
-
For me, the screen corruption now only affects the launcher. I am
looking forward for a fix. :)

This is indeed very serious and should be fixed asap. Imagine you are
working on an document, leave the application open and suspend your
machine. Then you come back and the desktop is no longer accessible
because you simply cannot see where to click. How can you try and save
that doc to, lets say,
My whole desktop is pixelated when coming out of suspend... see screen
