To fix this problem, go to System Preferences Mouse, the Touchpad
tab, and uncheck Disable touchpad while typing.

I'm not sure if this is going to help or not... I am experiencing the
same problem, as are quite a few people, as shown by some threads in the
official Runescape forums. When the applet crashes it dumps a file like
he_err_pid1234.log in the home directory. Attached is one of those
files generated
