I have exactly the SAME bug. I am using a Coolbox Minidesk 2002 desktop PC (Atom 330 + Intel 945GC GPU) which had 9.04 preinstalled. Now I am using Xubuntu 9.10, fresh install, without Compiz. I've tried today to install and execute Compiz, and them everything freezes. I tried also to yesterday to
