The kernel upgrade did not work for me - I installed the ppa kernel
2.6.35-22-generic-pae and the defect remains.
It works a bit different for me - after the boot, everything is OK. As soon as
I close the laptop lid and re-open it, the whole screen starts to flicker in

I confirm this bug on Lucid running on Thinkpad T61. This bug did exist on
Karmic also.

Why is the bugfix by Tom Jaeger not being rolled out to the main ppa? Every time
some routine update breaks my patched system, I have to wait for Tom to compile
and post updates patches on his ppa.
