Ok, I tried that too, I am now running 2.6.36-020636-generic
and it indeed fixes the bug: no more unexpected crash when configuring display.
However, I still can not have clone view, as described here:

This seems to be an issue specific to DELL with Intell GPUs. I have
found several similar bugs that share these, although for 10.04 release.
Apparently, still there. I'd be glad if this could be fixed, this is
really really annoying...

Hello,
The bugbot added the 'xubuntu' tag, I assume because it found that information
in the attached files. FYI, I did install at first xubuntu, but I quickcly
switched over to ubuntu, by installing ubuntu-desktop (or similar name package,
can't remember)
