In my case, both screen and keyboard freeze completely (even SysRq don't work). Once I left my PC frozen for an hour, and no avail. Once it happened while watching video. Sound was looped; some a half of a second was being repeated. Then in several minutes it stopped. I noticed the increasing of CPU load while freezing, for the cooler is rotating much faster at the moments. I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 after upgrading from 13.04. Previously, I haven't noticed anything like this.
