I can confirm that hitting the "2" key at any time after initial system boot will crash X. On my system, the Enter key will NOT crash X. So if I change my password to anything that does not contain the number 2, X will boot into the Gnome desktop. Ubuntu will work perfectly fine until, whenever, wherever, you press the "2" key. At that point, you get the X crash and are dumped back to the log-in screen. After the second log-in, everything is fine.
I don't know what information is required about my system, so I will give the basics: Dell Latitude D830 notebook, NVidia Quadro NVS graphics, Core 2 Duo CPU, 4 GB RAM, Lucid x64 ("clean" install from Alpha3 Live CD plus all patches/updates). NVidia proprietary drivers (195). (Plymouth splash is not working for me) -- Plymouth text-mode splash causes X to crash on first run due to shared tty7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532047 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
