On the Ubuntu phone I always try and summon the Search by swiping down
over the word SEARCH in the top left of the Dash. This doesn't work; you
have to tap SEARCH, not swipe over it. The swipe gesture isn't being
used for anything else; perhaps swiping over SEARCH ought to
This problem appears to have resolved itself, although unfortunately I
don't know what happened to resolve it. Closing.

Public bug reported:
For the last two days (since Monday 21st May 2012) my machine (a Lenovo
U300s) has been snowcrashing six or seven times a day. By this I mean
that the screen (or screens) are filled with coloured moving static.
When the machine is snowcrashed, it does not respond to ssh, and
Using the Unity-2d session did not prevent the problem from occurring.

However, switching to using the vesa driver for Xorg *has* helped; so
far there have been no crashes.
I did this by blacklisting i915 and creating an xorg.conf, as so:
aquarius@faith:~$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-intel-sil.conf
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
blacklist i915

The clickpad PPA work to allow click-and-drag to drag/select-text works
when X is started, but then at some point later stops working.
This *may* be being caused by doing a double-tap-and-hold style drag;
doing one of those seems to stop click-drag from working from then on.

This has happened a number of times over the last week, but I can't
replicate it on demand. It seems to be associated with clicking a link
in chromium, although I can't confirm that it's *only* happened in that
situation.
