I have found that certain programs running under wine will trigger this crash. Recommended workaround to avoid the crash if you need to use some program that has problems... append to /etc/X11/xorg.conf Section Extensions Option RENDER disable EndSection -- Xorg crashes when handed bad xrender

Have tested this against two different Nvidia graphics cards on ununtu (running the non-free Nvidia drivers) and Nvidia drivers seem to be completely immune to the crash. The crash did occur on a different machine also running intel driver and using Mobile IntelĀ® GM45 Express Chipset so this is
