It's not the same issue like in the bug. As you can see in the attached
picture, it's completely readable, only there's a black frame around the
notification.
And IIRC when you set renderaccel off, the system gets significantly slower.
About suspending: does it work for you? For me the backlight

I did the upgrade, still without the above PPA.
Either the 2.6.32.18 kernel, or the 1.7.6 xorg fixed the issue, so I can log in
now without a xorg.conf now.
There are some lesser glitches though, suspend doesn't work, and the notify-osd
rendering is faulty when hovering over the mouse.

maybe i was too optimistic.
after today's upgrades, desktop can't load anymore with 24 bits.
there was xorg update to 1.7.3.902-1ubuntu7 , but i reverted it to the original
1ubuntu6, and the system still doesn't work properly. something else broke it,
but i don't have the time to check them all.
lucid is greatly improving. after the recent updates, the desktop can load with
default settings (24 bits, KMS, no xorg.conf) it's a bit slow though, xv output
doesn't work in gstreamer, gksu faded background is garbled, mouse hover over
notifications is flickery.
16 bits works nice.

Tormod, do you have any advices/remarks on these options I've set in the
