On 16.04 LTS release, the recent update of mesa (17.0.7) packages, broke
VA-API.

I am connecting my monitor through the VGA port and I don't have a any

I just posted this as a fix for the users who were unable to change brightness,
and I had no idea how deep the roots of this bug are.
In my case, both acpi_video0 and acpi_video1 do not work, i.e. the brightness
does not change and the syste

Looking in /sys/class/backlight/ lists 3 folders on my Dell inspiron 7520.
One of the folders is intel_backlight .

Yes, in Raring Ringtail, graphics works like a charm! No GLXBadContext
error at all. All I had to do was have the following as xorg.conf

I have seen this same issue on my Dell Studio 15 (1558) running Lucid. I
have a script xinput lines similar to Ricco's above, and this script
runs on automatically boot. But every so often things get reset and I
lose my two-finger scroll and need to go and re-run the script.
