Sorry for the mess folks; somehow my libc6-dev headers got corrupted and
caused this problem (along with others) a simple reinstall cleared the
situation.

Public bug reported:
can't install nvidia drivers from jockey nor manually; it used to work,
however I switched for some time to my integrated radeon hd4200+fglrx,
now I'm back on nvidia, prior to installing nvidia drivers I purged
fglrx, reinstalled libgl1-* and removed xorg.conf .
