Public bug reported: Back when I was using 17.10, I could keep my monitor plugged into the HDMI port of my motherboard (AsRock Z77 Pro4-M) which is set in the BIOS as the primary boot card and I could completely boot my system all the way through to Xorg with everything working fine. Even Steam
