I got the same crash and filed bug 46303 a while back. I'll try applying
that patch and post the log next time it happens.

After suspending while at gdm's login screen, the mouse cursor never
appears after resume.
The mouse is *there* and can do things, but it's invisible - moving it
over a login name (by sheer luck) will make hovertext appear, and
clicking works as

Looking again, it was actually just a corruption of the gnome panel, not
a notification window.
I probably wasn't very clear before: this is happening *instead of* the
normal 'brightness changed' notification, which doesn't show up at all.

or automatically after the laptop is left idle), a blank white square
covers the upper left corner of the screen and then disappears. In Lucid

I have libgl1-mesa-dri-dbg installed, but even though it has
unichrome_dri.so in it, backtraces for Xorg don't show any debug symbols
for that .so. (The attached crash happens with Composite enabled and
forcing Compiz to start.)
