Public bug reported:
While normal use, Unity disappeared, black screen with white blinking
cursor appeared, then I was redirected to login screen. No changes were
made to system recently.
Xorg.log.old indicated the following error:

UPDATE: This error is reproducible. It occurs everytime I try to add
more than 2 layers in JHelioviewer java application (in the attachment).
