Hello, I was having the issue described above. I just removed the option from /etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.modprobe and the synaptics driver is now being used. See http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14 /slackware-current-synaptics-touchpad-problem-732856/
