I also have a four-monitor setup, but my two leftmost monitors are
vertical. So my fake Xinerama would be:

Clearly I have an eclectic mix of monitors ;) My gfx cards are 2x
Nvidia 9550GT.

The problem might not be a Xinerama problem. I got the same issues when
using fake-Xinerama (I used ldd /usr/sbin/gdm to make sure it was
loading the right .so file.)
I got Twinview to treat my vertical monitors properly, and I used fake
Xinerama to patch them together. I still got issues with
