provides the option to continue and try to build the kernel module anyway, which i did, which worked perfectly. btw-with kernel 3.1.0, installed from kernel.org source, the nvidia 285.05.09.pkg.run doesn't throw the gcc error, it just compiles the module and works for me. so, this needs to be closed
