Bryce, this time I booted on 2.6.38-8 with your patch from PPA. Seems to be OK,
even after some 'stressing' in Firefox (multiple tabs, video, scrolling...).

currently on 2.6.39-999 - installed on 14-Apr-2011

Crash ... just changed the theme in 'Appearance', all OK, clicked on
'Pidgin's main window and freeze ... stripes... tty1 still worked,
rebooted from there.
