I'm not sure if it's exactly the same bug. I'm finding that not only
is the default inconvenient, but I can't dynamically change it.
(xrandr accepts the command to change the scaling mode,
but the display will remain unchanged.)

Just for the record, I also got the bug without the nvidia proprietary
driver. (I'm using the graphics integrated into the Core i5 CPU. I think
it's Arrandale, but might be misremembering -- commenting on this bug
from another computer.)
