For me (Lucid beta 1 with Thinkpad x41 [intel gma]) attaching external
display and pressing Fn+F7 will cause desktop theme to change to
Metacity. I can reset it back, but folders etc. stays in Metacity theme
until I reboot the computer.

happens with lucid beta 1. cursor can be made visual again pressing Fn+F7 (ibm
thinkpad x41).

i have the same problem with thinkpad X41 (Intel 915GM). when visual
effects are set to none, then there is no crash when connecting external
display.
