Ok, correction to my latest post:
Problem is NOT due to the nvidia driver. I uninstalled it completely,
and installed it manually from the nvida webpage.
No difference whatsoever.
I believe it just started when I upgraded to 10.04.
- dmesg does not show my touchpad now anymore, and it would do
Hi there
I have been having this problem on VAIO FZ21M since 9.04, to 10.04.
Touchpad works intermittently, and now in 10.04, when it does not work I
get:
(--) AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint: no supported touchpad found
(EE) AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint Unable to query/initialize Synaptics hardware.
(EE)
My touchpad sometimes works, and sometimes not. The touchpad buttons
always work though, and usb mouse always does.
I think this log in the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file is relevant:
(WW) AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint can't grab event device, errno=16
Anytime the touchpad does not work, I get this error
Same problem here, more details:
Touchpad works whenever I do not get this in warning in the xorg
logfile:
(ww) SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad can't grab event device, errno=16
This warning happends randomly, as far as I can see. Even when the
touchpad does not work, the touchpad buttons DO work.
