It seems to be *not related* to xorg, but to Gnome sound system. After disabling Terminal Bell in Gnome Terminal, the terminal works as expected. There is an ALSA sink on my computer, which is not always ready (bluetooth) and perhaps, Gnome waits for it instead of launching the sound
