On machines where lspci reports Display controller: Intel Corporation
Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07) and the
xorg log a GM45 chipset, page flipping is broken with current
DRM/xorg/intel drivers as
I see the same but on a DELL E6500 with maverick.
When the touchpad is slow, the touchpad is managed as a mouse, not as a
touchpad. For instance it is not possibile to scroll by using the border
of the touchpad.

This looks like one good reason to go with NVIDIA whenever you have a
decent screen :-)
Could someone be so kind to explain on what basis it is being stated
that the current behavior leaves the same flexibility as before?

After an upgrade to lucid, the x server does not work anymore.
Kdm prompt is correctly shown, however as soon as one tries to log in
the server crashes and is restated.
Blacklisting nouveau and installing stock drivers from the nvidia site
fixes the issue.

Hi,
I have just upgraded to Lucid on my primary machine. Since the upgrade
was not smooth and made my machine unbootable, some caution will be
necessary before I can upgrade laptops to make the test.
Anyway, as soon as I can check I will provide an update.

On a Dell E6500 with intel graphics and a 1920x1080 panel, with kubuntu.
On Karmic, xorg was detecting the correct physical screen size (about
30cm x 20cm) and resolution and thus setting the dots-per-inch
correctly.

I confirm the bug on kubuntu with intel graphics.
On a DELL E6500 with a 1920x1080 15 screen. DPI should be 100 but is set at
96.
karmic was managing resolution just right on this machine

Once there was a known bug on xorg-input-evdev causing the keybord arrow
keys to be mapped to wrong keysims, for instance top arrow to print
screen, bottom arrow to multi key, ecc.

Trying the new xorg intel driver 2.9.0 from the X-updates ppa.
