Just a precision (may not be obvious to everyone): "xserver-xorg-input-
vmmouse" has to be uninstalled on the virtualized system, not in the
hosting system. Which is not very convenient when running a live CD,
because the user has to install it, then restart the X server (each time
he runs the live
Unlike Ezra Reeves, I only have the mouse issue. When I move my mouse, the
"xorg" process of the VM goes to 100% (I can get more CPU usage if I enable
many processors), and so does the KVM process. It happens:
- with KVM native display or VNC
- using KVM directly or through libvirt
The rest seems
The problem was the same with Windows. After some reboots the touchpad
works again, while I don't know why.
Therefore, I still appreciate hints.

After my update yesterday the Elantech touchpad mouse is dead in Ubuntu.
Even my solution above does not help anymore. It happens in Linux
2.6.31-14-generic #48 as bad as in 2.6.31-15 generic.
Even on a terminal (while X11 is down) I cannot get any input from it. E.g.

Binary package hint: xorg
After updating from jaunty to karmic the xorg server does not find the
mouse anymore. The kernel does find the Elantech Touchpad / mouse.
I fixed it by executing:
