Fixed for me by one of these 2 updates released on 5/11/10: updated nvidia-current (195.36.15-0ubuntu2) to 195.36.15-0ubuntu3 updated nvidia-current-modaliases (195.36.15-0ubuntu2) to 195.36.15-0ubuntu3 -- nVidia driver quits working after updating Ubuntu sLucid on 5-7-10
