I also have an Intel Core i5 3570K on an ASUS P8H77-V motherboard and
have the same issue. Sometimes I can work for several hours before it
crashes, but often it hangs in a few minutes after logging in (with
GNOME shell).

YES... (thank you) ...it seems to work also for me with an ACER Aspire One 751
(AO751h).
I'm waiting for a freeze that doesn't came, but I noticed some limitations :
* It seems to be 3D, but compiz is no more activable (as I tried to
add psb in te WHITELIST of /usr/bin/compiz).
