I tried the above but still not working. The only way to make the
machine show the screen is by pressing CTRL+ALT+F2 and then CTRL+ALT+F7

I am able to get the desktop by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F2 on the black screen and
then Ctrl+Alt+F7 again on the prompt.
Then I found that desktop is back
