I would also like to add that this issue also manifests when the display
goes to sleep.
Moving the mouse or touching the keyboard (which should wake the display
up) produces no effect and requires turning the monitor off and on
again.

I've managed to fix the problem. Turns out lirc was the culprit here.
Uninstalling lirc and making sure that the file with my keymaps is in
/etc/rc_maps.cfg solves the problem.

Just tried with the daily build and it works. I had to switch back to
2.6.32-22-generic because of wireless drivers issues.

When I press key '3' on keyboard prints '23' on the screen
Just to report that i have the same problem with unminimizing,
maximizing, unmaximizing on a ATI Radeon 4850 and ubuntu 9.04, on 8.10
