After I upgraded the system from 12.04 to 12.10, the lightdm cyclically tris to
start the Xserver, which crashes.
In the log file I can find the following crash report:

When watching video in any software using Xvideo (Totem, MPlayer) the
columns of the image are swapped. Everything is fine when using Xshm.
The issue is related to big-endianess of my system (iBook G4). It has
already been fixed ups
