Bastian, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
I found that doing:

The redhat patches do not work for me athough they are supposed to
address exactly this problem.

They do in fact work but they conflict with the existing ubuntu patches
and dpkg-buildpackage somehow 'solved' the conflict by not applying the
patches.

I think I found the solution by applying these patches
0001-Allow-relative-scroll-valuators-on-absolute-devices.patch
0001-Fix-inverted-horizontal-scroll-46205.patch
from the Fedora Package
