Since 12.10, the kernel header packages for Ubuntu are not installed by default. This breaks all DKMS modules, including virtualbox and nvidia- current. I maintain the DKMS module "bbswitch" and it is tempting to add a dependency on "linux-headers-generic" because Ubuntu/dkms screws this up. DKMS
