This is more related to the nvidia driver, so switching over from kernel
makes sense...
The nvidia-current-updates unfortunately behaves exactly as nvidia-
current, so it doesn't work.
Current version at the moment of writing: 304.51-0ubuntu1
Anything else I can provide? :-)

Unseen, instead of using nvidia-current, does nvidia-current-updates
also have the same problem?
