I have this same issue on my Dell XPS 13 ultrabook with Intel HD 4000
graphics. I believe that the 3.8.0-19 kernel is causing the issue, if
I boot to a previously installed kernel everything works fine. Using
the 3.8.0-19 kernel I get nothing on the laptop screen, if I plug
something into the d
