Public bug reported: I've installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a very old computer that has a touchscreen (it's not a notebook, it's an almost-square one-block heavy- as-shit computer with a built-in touchscreen and no keyboard). The touchscreen is not working or enabled by default. It should, as it should on EVERY computer that has a touchscreen.
Before I installed Ubuntu 12.04, there was Ubuntu 7.10 installed on the same machine and it had the touchscreen working. That means support for this touchscreen has been enabled for 6 years already. I guess some additional package had been installed at that time, but nowadays, any touchscreen should be detected and enabled by default without having to install or setup anything. I can't even see any settings under System Settings to enable it. Ubuntu's System Settings is so poor. There are tons of settings that actually exist that are not available there. You never know whether you need to install some additional package or if it is already there to be tweaked by editing some text file somewhere. Some of this shit has already been improved in more recent ubuntu versions, but 12.04 is LTS, isn't it? So these fixes should be made readily available to 12.04.
