Public bug reported:

tried 13.10 and 14.04 both do not load the intel driver. to reach a desktop you 
need to specify nomodeset and fbdev at boot and remove the vesa driver.
the vesa driver just corrupts the display, if you have any suggestions for me 
to try fire a way and i will see what i can do would like to help get this 
fixed for 14.04 release.
