Okay, so I've removed the proprietary driver and then rebooted with the normal driver with nomodeset removed. However, it won't boot to the login screen and crashes after the initial Ubuntu splash screen. I'm left with a splodge of purple at the bottom of the screen. I can't switch to a terminal

I should add that when I first installed Ubuntu on the same computer, I had to specify the option nomodeset, otherwise I just got a white screen. After installation the driver did not work, which is why I tried the proprietary driver. -- You received this bug notification because you are a
